I have been using this product for a month now and I can't see much improvements. I have combination and sensitive skin, with redness and blackheads in my T-zone and seborrheic dermatitis. I use it once a day and the skin is smoother, the pores are dimished, but the blemish is still there and so the blackheads. Should I use it twice a day or switch to 1% from 2%? The lotion works better for redness problems? Thank you.Customer Care : Extremely stubborn blackheads can be removed, but only by gently squeezing them out of the pore. Wash your face with a gentle, water-soluble cleanser and follow with a well-formulated toner containing niacinamide to improve the shape of the pore.
Place a slightly warm (not hot), wet washcloth for about 2 to 3 minutes over the area you want to squeeze, and then pat the area dry.
Use a comedone extractor. First, center it over the blackhead and then gently press down and pull forward at the same time.
Next, to get more of the blackhead out, use a tissue over each finger (to prevent slipping and accidentally tearing your skin) and then apply even, soft pressure to the sides of the blackhead area, gently pressing down and then up around the affected pore.
Repeat this process only once. If nothing happens, it means that the blackhead cannot be removed with this first treatment, and continuing will most likely cause a wound and scabbing. You can try again in a few days.
Follow up with a well-formulated BHA (salicylic acid) exfoliant. We would like to advise to start using the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid.Starting with using it once a day and if your skin responds well you can use the BHA product even twice a day. This product works great on my sensitive, acne prone skin. I first started using it two-three times a week, but I decided to try it every day since I really liked how my skin both felt and looked when I used it. Even though my skin is really sensitive it worked fine using it every day. My skin really looks a lot better than before, I still get smaller breakouts, but not at all the way I used to. This product was brilliant for around 4-6 days, then became pretty much useless to me! i have a fairly untouched bottle lurking around now! my skin is quite comfortable wit bha's so i should have known it wouldnt have been potent enough. So glad i didnt let it put me off making another order as the 2% gel is awesome and has kept my skin under control for the past month of use. Probably would be great for beginners or those with sensitive skin! Customer Care : Thank you for your review. Generally if you have normal to oily skin with moderate breakouts my gel is a great place to start. If you have very oily skin with moderate to severe breakouts the liquid is a must to try. If you have normal to combination skin the lotions are a wonderful option. I have been using this product for about 5 months now and it has helped me with my acne scars. I used to have a scar on the left side of my cheek for more than a year and it is almost gone now. I wouldn't recommend using it twice a day though - I tried it once and it gave me a really bad break out. Even if you apply it only on certain areas of your face be sure to apply very little (tiny drop) because it might break you out. You can apply an AHA or BHA product once or twice a day. Also, depending on your skin's sensitivity you can apply either of these around the eye area, making sure to keep them off the eyelid and away from the eye itself. Apply the AHA or BHA product after the face is cleansed and after your toner has dried (if you are using one). Once the AHA or BHA has been absorbed, you can apply any other product, such as additional moisturizer, serum, eye cream, sunscreen, and/or foundation. Whether or not you use a moisturizer with an AHA or BHA product totally depends on what type of skin you have, how it reacts to the AHA or BHA product, and what kind of base the AHA or BHA you're using comes in. Some AHAs and BHA come in moisturizing bases so an extra product isn't required. Important Note: The skin needs only one good exfoliant, and that's it. Overexfoliating will further irritate the skin, and the long-term effects of that are unknown.
Some people experience a tingling or slight stinging sensation when they use AHA or BHA products with appropriate concentrations and pH. Some people have had minor to severe flaking and redness. Minor, short term reactions can occur given the nature of AHAs and BHA. However, long-term irritation, redness, flaking, or patches of dermatitis are not healthy for the skin, and if any of these symptoms occur, you should reduce the frequency of application or consider a gentler (less concentrated) product. Observe your skin. If it gets very dry and flaky, use an additional moisturizer for a period of time until the skin calms down and gets used to the new level of exfoliation. If it gets red and irritated, use the product less frequently, though still regularly (perhaps once a day, or two or three times a week). If it still gets very dry and irritated, consider stopping altogether. Severe irritation is not the goal or the desired result.

very disappointed

I ordered this in april and my sister and I are using it since then, so for about 2,5 months and I'm so disappointed! I don't really love this product, I still have the same amount of blemishes and blackheads. Also the package isn't good, our pump isn't working. The spring has 'jumped' out of the package and we can't keep it at its place. So now we have to 'pump' ourselfes, wich doesn't work to well. You often get too much or too little of the product and sometimes the whole bottle cap comes off, and you can't 'pump' at all. I only give this product two starts because my skin looks overal a little bit brighter and finer. I won't recommend this product to somebody else, it just doesn't work and the package is bad. I'm so disappointed since my expectations were very high, I heard so much good story's about this product. Customer Care : Thank you for taking the time to review this product. With blemishes and blackheads you could consider using a benzoyl peroxide product in combination with a BHA product. It is especially the combination of a BHA product and a benzoyl peroxide product which has proven to be effective in the battle against blemishes. I've been using Paula's Choice (Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Gel Exfoliant) for about a month now after I saw good reviews on YouTube, my skin is 100% better! My complexions smooth, no blotchyness, the black heads on my nose are almost gone, my skins soft, I actually look fresh faced without make up.
Cant stress enough, just keep at it, I use it twice a day, then moisturise about 10 mins after i've applied it. Its AMAZING!!
Worth every penny the bottle lasts forever!!

This is the product the site (both this one and the US one) recommend for sensitive skin, and with Paula's stellar reputation, I composed a skin care kit for myself with her cosmetic cop/beautypedia site.
I was very reluctant to leave a review at first because I had nothing good to say; I started using this product in january and noticed no difference whatsoever. This was because I greatly reduce my usage of possible skin irritants during winter weather as I am prone to drying out and turning even redder than normal, so I used this gel only once a day. This product in itself doesn't irritate my skin, so I started using it twice a day now instead of just once, and for the first time in my life my blackheads are clearing up, and that in a matter of 3 days since I started using it twice a day. I was so astonished I felt compelled to let other people know. My pores are still big and not entirely unclogged, but it's getting there and I've experienced a world of difference already.
Make sure you only use about a water drop's equivalent of this, as it spreads out very well and it leaves white flakes and an odd film over your skin if you overdo it (I looked like I spread Elmer's glue over my face the first time I squirted out a bunch). (Posted on 05/03/2012) -

I feel very well after using tester of this product. But maybe I do something wrong... When applying this gel at the end when gel is almost fully soaked in my skin i feel with my fingers and see small white particles and i don't know - is this from gel (maybe I rub very hard???) or this is dead exfoliated skin.
