I got a sample of this product and loved its texture and coverage. Unfortunately, the lightest shade, Sheer Fair, was far too yellow on me. If a lighter shade were available I would buy it immediately. (Posted on 25/04/2012)Product Rating -

I really, really like this foundation. It makes my skin look perfect, except for the small matter of well, colour. Unfortunately, to state that sheer fair fits porcelain skin might be wishful thinking... If your skin's fair, don't expect to find a match - I was lucky to try a sample only. If ever it comes in a truly fair version, I'll be the first one to order :)Product Rating

This is the perfect daytime product for me. Evens out my skin tone and there is no sign that it is anything other than my natural skin. I don't have the time or inclination to wear full make up every day but feel bare with nothing on so this is a perfect inbetween. Paula's Choice Sheer Fair leaves my face looking the same colour as the rest of my body - I have tried many tinted moisturisers before but they have all been too dark even where different shades are available. The icing on the cake is the SPF 20 as with my fair skin, daily sunscreen is essential. Sunscreen, moisturiser and makeup in one step - couldn't be better! (Posted on 15/08/2011)Product Rating -
The only solution for sunscreen without white cast for me

Honestly, i use this also eventhough i'm a man. I use retin-A for years which is mandatory for me to apply sunscreen on my face. Unfortunately paula's skin recovery moisturizer still leaving a white cast on my face which makes me look weird (i have a tan skin) and i cannot use other Paula's sunscreen products since i'm allergic to oxybenzone. It's a good thing that the sheer matte finish this product offers barely gives any color and doesn't make me heavily made up or i will look like a drag. Maybe a bit of feedback for Paula and her team to develop a product with micronized titanium dioxide or only avobenzone so it will not leave any white cast in skin? Lovely product but a high UK price

This does provide a great really natural longlasting matt finish. It would be a bit of a holy grail for me in providing mineral only suncreen and natural makeup so a perfect daytime solution. However the UK price is really quite high (c.f the US price of $14.95) for such a small amount, making it more expensive per ml than Aveda inner light for example (which Paula rates as $$$). Come on Paula we brits derserve some value too.Product Rating

I've tried countless candidates but didn't found anything that satisfied me.
Until I tried a sample of the Barely There Sheer Matte Tint SPF 20.
It's the perfect balance of light coverage, a perfect colour match for my fair skin (Sheer fair) and great spf of 20.
I do apply it liberally to get a good sun protection from it and it never leaves streaks on my face.
I sometimes add a light dusting of powder or bronzer over it if i feel I need more coverage. I use it year-round.
You people at Paula's Choice be warned : be prepared to receive hate mail from me if you ever discontinue this product ! (Posted on 06/07/2010) -

I have fair skin, but read the american reviews about picking a darker colour when in doubt. So i ordered the sheer ivory. Great product if you like a natural look. I have sligthly oily skin, but that's no problem, it looks great. (Posted on 28/05/2010) -

This is by far the best foundation Ive ever tried. My skin looks perfect with it, natural and no sign like I am wearing foundation. Because it is sheer, it provides a light coverage, but my skin is looking so natural and beautiful with it. Also, I can apply it directly after toner, because it contains SPF, so it can replace sunscreen. Apply to clean skin using a makeup sponge or clean fingertips. Dab tint onto the central part of your face and blend toward the jawline using smooth, even strokes. Because this product contains sunscreen, it is imperative to apply it at least 20 minutes before going outdoors.
If needed, apply a light layer of moisturizer under the tint. If you have dry skin, moisturizer can help make application easier and coverage more even.
It is recommended that you apply the tint liberally to achieve the rated level of sun protection. A too-thin application will not sufficiently protect the skin from the sun. If you plan on applying a sheer application of the tint, it is recommended that a regular sunscreen be applied first to ensure you are getting enough sun protection.
This tint can be applied to the eyelids and then set with powder. This step will ensure an even application of eyeshadows and eyeliner.
Barely There Sheer Matte Tint can be layered for additional color and a bit more coverage. Since this is a tint, the level of coverage increases only subtly as you add layers (not substantially as it would with a foundation).
Since the shades are sheer, it is not critical to get an exact match. If you are in-between two shades, we recommend going with the shade that is slightly darker (instead of lighter) than your skin tone. This will add a touch of translucent color to your face, though you will want to make sure the shade matches your neck/jawline as closely as possible.

Do I need to use a separate moisturizer with Barely There Sheer Matte Tint?
Unless you have dry skin or dry areas, Barely There Sheer Matte Tint can be used comfortably on its own. It is designed for all skin types, but someone with dry to very dry skin may prefer to apply a moisturizer first for additional hydration. Those with normal to oily skin will likely appreciate the light feel and natural matte finish Barely There Sheer Matte Tint provides, though for this skin type a lightweight moisturizer can be applied to dry areas if needed.
Is Barely There Sheer Matte Tint closer to a tinted moisturizer or a foundation?
It is closer to a tinted moisturizer, but offers more coverage than most tinted moisturizers do. It does not provide coverage on par with liquid foundations, including All Bases Covered Foundation SPF 15 (for normal to dry skin) and Best Face Forward Foundation SPF 15 (normal to oily/combination skin).
Is Barely There Sheer Matte Tint safe for breakout-prone skin?
It is a good choice due to the fact that it isn't heavy, thick or greasy. However, we cannot guarantee it won' cause or worsen blemishes. For some people, this product's active ingredients (the mineral sunscreens titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) can cause clogged pores. The only way to know if any product will cause or worsen breakouts is to try it and see how your skin responds.
