| Application Tips | Dispense a quarter-sized amount into the palm of your hand and massage onto clean skin in gentle circular motions. May be used daily for all-over smoothing and exfoliation, or applied only to dry areas as often as needed. If using with an additional moisturizer, apply this treatment first and adjust amount used based on personal preference. For daytime use, wear under a Paula's Choice sunscreen. Do not apply to just-shaved legs (AHAs can sting if applied directly after shaving). May be used on the face, but avoid direct contact with the eye area. Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards. Skin Revealing Body Lotion Advice: Skin Revealing Body Lotion with 10% AHA can be used by all skin types, but works particularly well for normal to dry, sun-damaged skin. If blemishes, blackheads or small rough/raised bumps on the body are a concern, Paula's Choice Weightless Body Treatment with 2% It is normal to feel a slight tingling when first using Skin Revealing Body Lotion with 10% AHA, but if this does not dissipate or if it worsens, discontinue use. Although AHAs can be irritating for some skin types, the irritation traditionally passes after repeated use. The ability for AHAs to exfoliate and solve many skin-care problems offsets the initial minor irritation involved with their use. AHAs have a drop-off rate, meaning they do not keep exfoliating past the dead surface layers of skin. Once AHAs have sloughed off the thickened surface layers of sun-damaged skin, their effectiveness tapers off. However, to maintain results, AHAs must be used on a regular basis. There is research showing that AHA usage can help stimulate collagen production in the dermis. It is best (and gentlest for the skin) to employ one form of exfoliation at a time. Therefore, while using Skin Revealing Body Lotion with 10% AHA, it is not necessary to exfoliate skin in a different manner. However, occasional and very gentle use of scrubs or loofah sponges is fine if desired. Keep in mind that too much exfoliation can create a host of new problems, the least of which will be red, inflamed, and irritated skin. |
