How to use
Apply a small amount in the evening over the face and neck to cleansed skin. Avoid the delicate skin around the eyes. Limit initial use to three evenings per week, then gradually increase frequency to every other evening and finally every evening as tolerated by your skin. When first using this product we suggest that you do not use it at the same time as your AHA or BHA exfoliant. If you would like to use both, apply one in the morning and the other in the evening. Monitor your skin’s response and if no sensitivity occurs this product can be applied at the same time as your exfoliant.
Thank you for submitting your review! It will be reviewed by our staff before it is posted.I have used the Clinical Retinol treatment for several years, and I have always enjoyed using it but it is strong! I purchased this as I was eager to try it out. I was impressed. It has a slightly thinner consistency to the 1% Retinol Treatment. I also find it very soothing, which may be down to the bakuchiol. My only negative is that this is more than €10 more expensive here I'm the EU than the US which is a big difference.
Customer Care: Hi GLcork, thanks for your review! This product is a great alternative to 1% retinol as the bakuchiol does tend to make it more tolerable while still offering great anti-aging results! I fully understand your concern about the prices of Paula’s Choice products in Europe compared to the prices in the US. Unfortunately, there are various unavoidable regional factors that impact the final price which the consumer needs to pay. We appreciate your feedback! Make sure to contact us if you have any further questions! Kind regards, Marissa - Paula's Choice Customer Care

What is Bakuchiol?
Bakuchiol is a vegan ingredient found in the leaves and seeds of the Psoralea corylifolia plant. It’s said to be a natural alternative to retinol, but it’s important to keep in mind that “alternative” does not mean “equivalent”. Scientific research has shown that bakuchiol delivers some of the same benefits as retinol, but both retinol and bakuchiol also have unique benefits. When looking for bakuchiol skincare products such as a bakuchiol serum or cream you may want to choose formulas that also contain retinol so you can benefit from both of these ingredients instead of choosing between them.
How does bakuchiol work?
Research shows that the natural anti-inflammatory properties of bakuchiol makes it easier for the skin to tolerate retinol. It is one of the rare ingredients that makes retinol more effective by stabilising its action. Bakuchiol cosmetics can even work better than products which contain ingredients that are usually used for this, such as vitamin E.
