Thank you for submitting your review! It will be reviewed by our staff before it is posted.I use it for a couple of months now and it realy makes a difference. I started a couple of times a week and builded it up to twice a day. Love it. Together with the other PC products it leaves my aging skin glowing and healthy looking!I've been using it for a month now and I like it! My blackheads are still there, as black as always but this exfoliant makes my skin super soft, not dry at all (I have oily skin in my T-zone and dry skin everywhere else) and so far the size of the pores have minimized a liiiiiittle bit. I'll continue to use it to see more effect!I had really high expectations of this product and I was hoping it was only a purging phase but it made my acne worse so I just had to stop using it. I used it twice a week in the evening, followed by my moisturizer and aloe vera gel and I broke out terribly with painful red bumps on my chin and cheeks. I've never had so many cysts on my face and I'm really upset it didn't work out for me.
Customer Care: Hi there! We're sorry this wasn't a fit for you, but we are glad that you used our return policy. Be sure to contact our customer service department for advice on a possible alternative.I ordered the travel size to test it, since my skin is very sensitive, and it turns out it was a good decision. It made my skin really red and I had a burning sensation, had to wadh it off immediately. Be carefull if you have rosacea, sensitive skin.I had samples of it. And it is better i've ever used with bha. I tried also bha gel, it is more aggresive, dries out your skin. And the worst product i bought in full size - it is bha from Resist line. I Picked it up with routine helping on Paula's web page. And i regret i bought it. Also agressive, drying out my skin.I normally use the Resist Anti-Aging exfoliant and most Paula’s Choice products that I used, including that one are very good for my skin.
This one however irritates my skin quite bad and creates rashes all over my face, so I had to stop using it.
Too bad this happened, it’s quite an expensive product.
Customer Care: Hi there! We're sorry this wasn't a fit for you! Be sure to contact our Customer Care for assistance.I love this product, it was one of the first PC products i started using.
I t has changed my skin dramatically (i feel like BHA works better for my sjin than AHA).
I might sound cliche, but it is a HG product for me!It takes away my redness, keeps my acne/rosacea calm and smooths my skin like nothing elseExcellent product! Must have in every skincare regime. It makes miracles to my problematic (oily and dehydrated) skin. It unclogs pores, evens skin surface and helps preventing breakouts. Whenever I stop using it, the skin gets worse immediately, so I’ll just continue buying it forever. After I stopped taking the pill, I got some small pimples and blackheads. This product has been doing wonders for my skin! I feel little by little it is improving :)If you sufer from acne or clogged pores and you can only buy one product - buy this. The exfoliant will make such an impact for your skin, that you will never want to run out of it. Used daily, it will dissolve dry flaked skin and clear pores, so you will see less and less new spots or acne. It also helps with reducing discolorations from previous spots and leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. I use it everyday in the morning and follow with a mix of Calming Serum, Peptide Booster and Vitamin C booster. Once this has absorbed into skin, I apply Resist Clear Skin Moisturizer and foundation. I recommend it to all my friends.I loved this lotion. I got the idea to introduce BHA into my skincare when i got such amazing results with Chemical Facial Peels at my esthetician's. After these treatments my skin seemed to glow, and no more acne! When i realised it wasn't feasible economically to continue these peels i bought this lotion! I realized that all they were truly applying on my skin was a mix of super powerful professional grade AHA & BHA's. I started using this lotion daily, sometimes twice a day. It was perfect. However, since then i ordered the BHA gel and realized i like its application and feel a lot better. Its all a matter of preference. IT is true the lotion does leave a bit of a film behind which is weird upon application.
One last thing, do not forget to moisturize right after. It's imperative for BHA's to work. Otherwise you will dry out and flake your skin. The product: very nice!
The normal size container: fine
The travel size container: absolutely useless. After the first flight it was half empty and I had the solution over all my cosmetics. It's not leakproof and is not suitable for something that liquid. I will use the sample size packets in the future for travelling. Otherwise I really like the exfoliant.
What are the key ingredients?
Primarily an exfoliant, helping shed dead skin on the surface and inside the pore, therefore effective for reducing breakouts and blackheads. It also has soothing properties.
Green Tea Extract
Possess potent antioxidant and skin-soothing properties and has impressive research in terms of its many benefits for skin, including anti-ageing properties.
Can enhance the absorption of ingredients such as salicylic acid. It also has hydrating properties that can leave a smooth, dewy finish on skin.
Aqua, Methylpropanediol (hydration), Butylene Glycol (hydration), Salicylic Acid (Beta Hydroxy Acid, exfoliant), Polysorbate 20 (stabilizer), Camellia Oleifera (Green Tea) Leaf Extract (skin calming/antioxidant), Sodium Hydroxide (pH balancer), Tetrasodium EDTA (stabilizer), Phenoxyethanol (preservative).
Good to know before you start:
It is best to gradually build up use of a BHA product, starting to use it a couple of times a week only. If there is no adverse reaction, this may be increased to every other day at night and then, if you wish, every night. Some people increase use to twice daily (morning and night), but it really all depends on the condition of your skin. You need to experiment a bit to see what suits you best. During the day, always use a moisturiser with a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater. Your skin will in fact be slightly more sensitive to sunlight when using an exfoliant, so the chance of sunburn and sun damage is slightly higher.
What's the difference between the 2% BHA Liquid and the 2% BHA Gel?
First, texture: One is a fluid with a toner-like consistency, the other is a thicker, clear gel. Both contain the same amount of salicylic acid, though the 2% BHA Liquid contains an ingredient that allows the salicylic acid to penetrate faster and further. With the 2% BHA Gel formula, you're getting a slower release of salicylic acid. Both are great options for treating acne, blackheads, and signs of ageing. Both are suitable for all skin types but best for normal to oily or combination skin.
The Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant feels a bit sticky/greasy on my face. Why is that?
If the BHA is feeling sticky, you are probably using too much product. The average amount needed is the size of a small coin, and it’s best to apply it in a thin layer. The ‘greasy’ feel can be attributed to the high levels of glycol in this product (glycol helps the BHA penetrate the surface layers of skin and also works as a water-binding agent). If you live in a humid, moist climate, this effect will be more pronounced and, if too much product is used, can create a ‘greasy’ feel on the skin.
At what point after my laser and/or peel procedure can I begin using my BHA exfoliant again?
First, we urge you to follow the post-procedure instructions your doctor or nurse provided. Otherwise, our general advice is to begin using your BHA again as soon as possible. Or, if your skin seems extra-sensitive, you may want to wait and apply the BHA exfoliant a few days post-procedure. Salicylic acid is an excellent anti-inflammatory ingredient that can enhance the skin's natural healing process as it works to reduce post-procedure redness.
