very stubborn foundation you have to double cleanse.I prefer this cleanser in winter as it's super gentle and non drying when the weather is cold. This may not remove make up that well so you need to consider cleansing twice or use a separate make up remover. It's quite a heavy cleanser but that's not a problem for me as I have very dry skin. It does not remove makeup well so I use a make-up remover and then the cleanser. Skin does not free dry afterwards.I have been using the Skin Recovery products for 3 months now. I suffer from rosacea and breakouts and my skin is extremely dry. My skin has been like this probably 15 years and in all that time I have tried countless remedies including medical facials and every type of product on the market, but nothing made a difference like these products did. I am only sorry I didn't take before and after photos! After I started using the products it took about a month for my breakouts to cease and 6 to 8 weeks for the redness to die down. It is not gone, it never will be, and I do suffer flare ups, mostly food and alcohol related, but my skin is 10 times better than it was before and red patches have definitely decreased in size. I am really delighted with the products. I don't even think about my skin so much anymore now and before I was always concious of it. I have just re-ordered the products and eagerly await my delivery. If you suffer from any of the above you can buy the sample sizes to try out the products, I did that initially and it's really a great option. Good luck! This was the first product from PC i tried and I am very disappointed. I am glad I bought only a sample.
At first it seemed pleasant and didn't irritate my skin or eyes while washing. But it left a sticky residue that I couldn't wash away and what's worse, it made my skin very itchy- so much that I woke at night and had to scratch my face! I've got face full of pimples now.
Don't recommend this to anyone.

Moisturisers do not always seem to do the trick — they are often too heavy and leaves my forehead shiny after just a couple of hours (but are great to use as after shaving in general — so I only use them for that). I was recommended the Skin Recovery (SR) cleanser (I’m a big fan of the Skin Balancing Oil-Reducing cleanser + toner, and in combination with PC 2% BHA in the evening my skin is healthy-looking during the warmer months).
The SR cleanser did seem hydrating to some extent, meaning it left a light oily feel on my face but unfortunately it made my skin break out really badly after a weeks use, esp. around my chin. My work situation demands that I’m presentable, so this was a rather embarrassing experience. It took a month of my “summer-routine” to get my skin back on track and I’m obviously not satisfied with this product (actually I’m stuck with around 470 ml of cleanser that I really have no use for — does anyone want the rest?).
I really hope the SR cleanser helps people with very dry skin and Rosasea, but I strongly recommend PC to emphasise the risk of break out when using this product (on combination skin).

I was previously using a Clinique cleanser which was good but it didn't remove my makeup quite as well as this one. I wear a full face makeup almost everyday and there is no trace of anything when I gently wipe with a toner after.Great value for money. It's fantastic product. I have dry skin with a bit of KP and redness. This is amazing it doe not dry and it removes makeup beautifullyVery good cleanser! Leaves skin hydrated and my face doesnt feel tight aferwards! Lasts for a very long time and i really like it!I have tried a lot of toners, all of them would make my skin itch and/or cause break outs.
This is the only one that works for me.
It is perfect for the very sensitive skin. No stinging sensation, it does not make my skin (even more) dry and my skin feels refreshed after using it. I will definitely recommend it.I have tried a lot of toners, all of them would make my skin itch and/or cause break outs.

Pros: extremely mild, no residue
Cons: might be a bit too drying for very dry skinWhen I tried this for the first time (after buying a sample set) I was really surprised at how good and gentle a cleanser could be, I had never tried high-value cleansers before and the difference was astonishing. After finishing the samples I tried a couple other good cleansers, but they were either not half as good or much pricier, so I came back to this one and I could not be happier. I think this could be my favourite Paula's Choice product.I tried a sample of this cleanser and it felt comfortable. So I decided to buy the big bottle +400ml. At first it worked OK (no drying sensation), but it felt really heavy. It is like it leaves a sort of a residue on the skin and it takes more than one attempt to take off the make up (I use light make up so it should not be a problem). I looked at the ingredients and this is mineral oil "ville", yuk! It does not lather (good thing), but it feels super heavy (I have very dry skin and usually creamy works well with my skin). I would not repurchase it - I will go back to another cleanser I buy at the pharmacy - which is 100% mineral oil free and much more effective. This product is a blessing for dry skin!
I find the SK cleaner alone does not remove all residue of eye pencil and mascara, but the PC makeup remover is excellent for that.Hi! I have combination skin, and all other cleansers used to leave my skin dry and dull, like old leather (specially cleansers aimed at improving blackheads: blackhead would stay there and my skin was just dry!). when I started using this cleanser (following the "as gentle as possible" paula's principle) I never had dry skin anymore! It's so gentle that I can use it also around the eyes (for stubborn mascara). and I dont even use mosturizer anymore, just sunscreen during the day and the serum around the eyes at night. So what was making my skin so dry was too agressive cleansers. This one is just perfect. One more thing: I had tried other so called "gentle" cleansers, creamy stuff quite good, but they all left an oily feeling. Not this one: you can really rinse it completely and the skin feels fresh and clean.I could not do without it. My skin type is combination rather than dry, yet any other cleanser would leave my skin uncomfortably dry and itchy after use - not this one!
It's the only cleanser I ever used (and I tried many) that makes it really soft and smooth, while doing a really good job of removing impurities and light make-up. It does not foam, which I like personally.

Frequently asked questions
Will a cleanser remove all my makeup?
Paula's Choice cleansers will effortlessly remove most makeup. If you use heavy foundation or long-lasting make-up, a clean washcloth will help lift it off. For particularly stubborn make-up, you can also try a silicone based make-up remover such as the Gentle Touch Makeup Remover link> Paula's Choice. First, gently massage the remover onto skin, then follow as normal with your cleanser.
In the summer my face is oilier. Should I use another cleanser?
Yes, during the summer it’s a good idea to switch to a cleanser that is suitable for combination or oily skin, like the Skin Balancing Oil-Reducing Cleanser link>
