I'm uncertain whether I've seen noticeable effects from this serum, and, I find it very hard to apply... It sort of disappears as soon as you touch anything! Though the skin feels smooth once applied -- though I think I use to much, and it makes it easier to apply whatever comes after because the skin's all silky and slippery due to the silicone. The packaging could use some work, but, on the whole I'm satisfied with the serum. As I run out of the tube I have now, I will probably buy a new one. (Posted on 17/04/2012)

I've noticed a big difference in my skin since using this product. I have sensitive combination skin and would regularly get red blotches on my face or neck. I've been using Paula's Skin Balancing range for 1 month & just realised I don't get the blotches anymore! I think this product is the one that helped calm my skin due to the antioxidants. I use it both morning & night (I don't apply a moisturiser over it at night as I find this serum is more than enough on it's own for bed) and enjoy the feel as it goes on my skin. As it clearly states on the packaging, you really do need to give it a good shake up before squeezing out otherwise it separates. Fabulous product, thanks Paula. (Posted on 03/08/2011)

I thought this was a strange product! After I shake it very well, it comes out a bit like a solid/liquid gel and it does feel greasy as soon as I put it on, then poof its gone in a flash and my skin feels so soft. I use it at night, and haven't tried it under makeup yet, but it hasn't clogged my pores or caused any breakouts, I have combination skin with an oily t-zone. I've had some dry patches on my cheeks in the winter months, and it's worked a treat on them.Overall it makes my skin feel very smooth, and has a good array of ingredients at a pretty good price. the texture is really smoothe and nice, and after a few seconds it turns matte, but not overly dry at all.
the only bad thing i had to say about this, is that it sometimes comes out as a fluid, i dont think that the product is stabil enough,
like it has not been mixed well enough together, i tried to shake the bottle but it didnt help..but it does not do this all the time, its a bit strange.Customer Care: Thank you for your feedback.

Great product. Only need a very little bit. Put it on quickly, because otherwise it evaporates! When you put it on it feels a bit oily, but that's only a few seconds. Skin absorbs the concentrate very quickly. Never felt anything like it!
I don't like the smell, it's a bit sour, but i always put a misturizer on after this, so thet's no problem.

This formula has lots of super ingredients but it made my skin feel greasy as the silicone formed a film. If you want a product for oily skin I really recommend the Skin Balancing Moisture Gel which leaves no residue at all. (Posted on 18/11/2009)

This product is fantastic. It truly is 'weightless' and goes on completely matte. I have combination skin with an oily T-zone which is also prone to breakouts and I use this every morning and night. The great thing about it is that it dries almost instantly and doesn't feel like you've put anything onto your skin, so one can easily combine/layer it with other products. A word of caution as far as application goes: when first putting the product onto your hand make sure you press your palms together carefully -without tilting the hand which the product is in- because if you do so the product will slide right off it! Shake well. At night, smooth a few drops of Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate onto skin after cleansing, toning (optional), and exfoliating. For daytime, wear under a product with SPF 15 or greater. Works beautifully under makeup and is suitable for use around the eyes. May be used twice per day if desired.
Be careful not to rub the skin when applying this product. Simply dab and smooth it on, then allow it to be absorbed into the skin. Rubbing or pulling the skin can encourage skin to sag.

What is the difference between Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate and the other Super Antioxidant Concentrates?

Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate contains special dry-finish and absorbent ingredients that make it ideal for normal to very oily skin. Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate contains several plant oils and a greater variety of antioxidants known to be especially beneficial for normal to very dry skin. Our original Super Antioxidant Concentrate is an "all skin types" option that supplies skin with several antioxidants, primarily stabilized vitamin C.

Is the texture of Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate similar to Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Moisture Gel?

No. Skin Balancing Moisture Gel is a silicone-in-water emulsion and has a light, water-based gel texture while the Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate is a non-aqueous serum that has a completely different feel.

Does Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate decrease the appearance of pores?

The silicone polymers in this product float over skin and minimally "fill in" pores, creating a smoother surface. The effect (as with all such products) is temporary and how long it lasts depends on your pore size and skin's oil output, as well as other products used at the same time. Overall, this product is not capable of reducing pore size, but it's conceivable this effect will be noticed and can be prolonged by pairing it with a matte finish foundation and powder.

I use a prescription product with tretinoin (i.e. Retina-A, Renova, Tazorac). Since Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate and Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate contain retinol, is it OK to combine them?

We are not aware of any contraindications surrounding the use of tretinoin and retinol and believe this combination is beneficial to skin. Because this question concerns a prescription drug, we recommend consulting your physician and following his or her advice.
