Summer Skincare Sorted
While many of us love the warm weather that summer brings, it can wreak havoc with our skin causing problems such as oiliness and dehydration. You don’t need to change your entire routine, a few simple switches can be enough to summer-proof your skin. Read on to discover our top tips to keep your skin looking great all summer long.
Do you need to use a different day and night moisturiser in summer?
Not everyone needs a different moisturiser during summer, but if your skin is prone to oiliness you might want to try a lightweight alternative to your normal moisturiser. Lightweight formulas still provide skin with nourishing and replenishing ingredients, but with fewer emollients. If you have sensitive or rosacea-prone skin, Calm Redness Relief Repairing Serum will calm and hydrate your skin and provide it with protective antioxidants, without feeling heavy. Resist Ultra-Light Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum is also a good summer option. This water-light serum is ideal for oily skin types and contains a cocktail of antioxidants and hydrating ingredients.
Don’t forget the rest of your body. During the hot summer months, try replacing your favourite body lotion or cream with a moisturising, fast-drying body oil. Resist Body Oil Spray hydrates skin and leaves a beautiful glossy finish. It also soothes dry, flaky skin.
Making Sunscreen Work For You
We all understand the benefits of applying sunscreen, but sometimes they can feel heavy on the skin. Instead, try the ultra-lightweight Resist Youth-Extending Daily Fluid SPF 50. Not only does it protect skin from the sun, but it is packed full of antioxidants to protect your skin from environmental damage. The water-light texture is ideal for oily skin and if you have dry skin you can layer it over your serum or moisturiser without SPF to get the hydration that you need.
Get Smooth, Soft Legs
In the summer months, people shave their legs more frequently to keep them soft, smooth and hair-free. To minimise the problems associated with shaving - redness, bumps and ingrown hairs - try using a leave-on exfoliant with BHA (salicylic acid). A BHA calms irritated skin, reduces red bumps and removes build-up dead skin cells, for softer, smoother legs. Try Resist Weightless Body Treatment 2% BHA, which also helps with keratosis pilaris (hard, red bumps) on the arms and legs.
Treating Back Acne aka ‘Bacne’
The summer months can be hard when you feel conscious about spots on your back but there are solutions. A spot is a spot and whether it’s on your face or your body it requires a similar treatment. First, wash your body with a gentle body wash cleanser, then, after shaving, follow with a leave-on BHA exfoliant and apply a targeted treatment directly on stubborn breakouts.
Clear Body Spray with 2% BHA is perfect for treating ‘bacne’ because the spray action makes it easy to treat hard-to-reach areas. To target stubborn spots, try Clear Daily Skin Clearing Treatment with azelaic acid. Don’t forget to protect your body with an SPF of at least 30.
Following these tips will help your skin survive the hot summer weather and ensure you look your best from top to toe.
